My granddad thinks that the escape of Mas Selamat is probably a hoax because of how ridiculous the idea of it seems to be. First of all, he is a lame guy (in the sense that he limps), and Singapore's security of such jails and detention centres are supposedly real secure. How is it possible that he escaped?
Therefore grandpa thinks that it is just one of the government's cheap little ways to make Singapore more alert. Such as those drills of exploding buses, those lame MRT station warnings......
P.S. A Malay friend told me that Selamat actually means "Safe". And Mas is a title something like "Mr." or "Brother" or something. ZOMG which means his name is actually "Mr. Safe"! This is the most ironic thing I've ever heard.
